Hey everyone sorry its been a while since I made a blog. During our underway we had a lot of things go down with our ship so it made it hard to use the internet because they ran drills and such that shut the internet off and then we had an incident occur so we dealt a lot with that and they shut off all communications down after that had happened probably because they didn't want the info leaked to the news until they got the article out....mainly because there was a lot of rumors going along with the incident I won't speculate on it at all so I cant get in trouble but I will provide a link to the actual news article. NBC San Diego, CNN, Fox News Video Included Most sources say the same thing. In the last article with fox news shows a video of the type of aircraft that crashed. The second I was able to get a email out again I sent an email to my mother to inform her that everyone including myself was safe and no one had truly been hurt. I am sure she appreciated the email as soon as she got it because these news articles came out around the time she was getting up and ready for work. However by the time she had gotten to work she also had my email and I am thankful for that.
Then we have this thing called POM leave before deployment its a mandatory break from work you must take before deploying for as long as we will be. I can not say on my blog how long my deployment will be but I am sure if you know my family they could tell you.
So first POM I choose to work so I could get second POM off to spend with my Family right before I leave. I was working 12 hour days with hardly a break to get some laundry done. I would definitely say that working long hours like that in the amount of stress of learning a new job in that time... It took a lot out of me and made me look at what I really want to do more. While I was on leave it did the same thing for me as well. Well Last time I put up a blog I was talking about trying to get my patrolman badge/ qualification. I did in fact get this before our month out to sea ended and shortly after getting into port I then in fact got my dispatcher qualification along with it and on top of everything they sent me up as a candidate for Junior Sailor of the quarter. I am thankful for my immediate chain of command caring enough to help me be successful and get me to where I am today. I do realize though that along with this they will expect a lot more out of me physically and with the command as well.
(Pictured Below is me along with my fellow shipmates receiving our patrolman badge.) The beginning to many great accomplishments and successes.
So now onto leave. We made the best that we could while we worked POM because we knew are shipmates would be doing the same for us while we were away having a good time. I personally feel like maybe we got the better deal out of the bunch getting to see are families last second before deployment. Well when my flight landed in Kansas City Airport (MCI) I saw my Dad, my Mom, and my little brother Eli. I went to them and gave them a hug and asked where my sisters where they had hid behind the door to scare me I guess but the little scream I heard as I was departing the aircraft was them scaring the crud out of some girl none of us knew. Haha if you read this I apologize for them they just like to have a lot of fun...scaring you by accident was unintentional but all I have to say sisters is Karma. I would then turn around and see them as well and of course hug them awkwardly as if I was hugging stranger because duh who actually hugs there sister like they love them. Oh and of course I go into a hug for my 16 year old sister Maggie and my mom starts laughing and says when did she get taller than you and sure enough I had the short gene out of the bunch of siblings hugging me in the airport Libbie so close to my height but still hasn't beat me yet so ha and Elijah I am sure will grow to be taller than me before he reaches the 6th grade because he grows so fast and I am so short and done growing... Lol however embarrassing none the less. I stayed up with my dad when I got home and ate sweet corn for the first time in forever best ever by the way. Anyways a couple of pictures from the morning after getting home and A picture of us kids the night after. You can also find these and others like it on my facebook Photo Album Labeled Things I missed and things I am going to miss.

Then on Saturday Mom said she invited a few friends over to see me...haha a few friends there was close to a hundred people there if not more. It was also like a birthday celebration since I will be on deployment for my actual birthday. I can say without a doubt this was a very fun night and weekend and sunday I went to church but when I got back it was a lazy day there after but still had people stopping by to visit. I love that people want to see me such a great feeling and it helps me when I am away that I will always have an amazing family to come home too.
